Zurich-based Iranian artist Shirana Shahbazi was in residence at the Hammer from March to May of 2008. During that time, Shahbazi created new work from a range of Los Angeles-inspired imagery, including sites from her visits to King's Canyon and other California State Parks, as well as specimens from the Los Angeles Natural History Museum. In this video, Shahbazi speaks about the process of orchestrating a show that draws from a specific location, and how her Hammer Project exhibition relates to and expands upon her earlier work.
