Arthur Jafa & Greg Tate in conversation

Jun 14, 2016

Fimmaker Arthur Jafa discusses representation and black cultural production with the writer and musician Greg Tate. From 1990 to 2007 Jafa filled nearly 200 three-ring binders with images from various sources that reflect aspects of black culture. These “picture books,” on display in Made in L.A. 2016, form unexpected and lyrical juxtapositions that represent Jafa’s interest in black aesthetics and his experiments with context, belonging, and alienation.
