In anticipation of the 2010 world premiere of Il Postino at the Los Angeles Opera, Chilean novelist Antonio Skármeta and renowned Mexican composer Daniel Catán will discuss the process of collaborating on the theatrical adaptation of music and literature. Skármeta’s 1985 novel and film Ardiente Paciencia inspired the 1994 Academy Award-winning movie, Il Postino. Catán is best known for his operas, which include Rappaccini’s Daughter, Florencia en el Amazonas, and Il Postino. Il Postino, starring Plácido Domingo as the poet Pablo Neruda, premiered Thursday, September 23, 2010 at LA Opera.
