The Mohn Art Collective (MAC3) is a groundbreaking collaboration between the Hammer Museum, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. Established in 2024 with a major gift of artworks and endowment support from Los Angeles collectors Jarl and Pamela Mohn, MAC3 reimagines how contemporary art collections are built, shared, and sustained. Jarl Mohn and museum directors Ann Goldstein (MOCA), Michael Govan (LACMA), and Zöe Ryan (Hammer Museum) discuss the permanently co-owned and co-governed entity, a collection of over 340 works is designed to support dynamic growth, curatorial collaboration, and public accessibility. The gift enables the three institutions to actively and collectively acquire works by L.A. artists on an annual basis, including acquisitions made directly from the Hammer Museum’s Made in L.A. biennial and Frieze, Los Angeles.
