Oct 19, 2023
Months after the murder of George Floyd, California became the first state in the nation to form a governmental Reparations Task Force to study and develop restitution and reconciliation proposals for African Americans. In June 2023, the committee released its final report with recommendations for how the state should atone for its history of racial violence and discrimination against Black residents. The committee Chair, attorney Kamilah V. Moore, discusses the committee’s processes, findings and recommendations. Moderated by Dr. Brenda Stevenson, UCLA Professor of History and Professor of African American Studies.
