Jacolby Satterwhite’s practice addresses themes of labor, consumption, carnality, and fantasy through immersive installation, virtual reality, and digital media. His intricate animations and live-action films are populated by avatars of artists and friends, and draw from queer theory, modernism, and video games to challenge Western art conventions through a personal and political lens. Satterwhite has exhibited internationally and collaborated on Solange Knowles’s visual album When I Get Home.
