"Being an African-American, having been born here, I feel like I'm always in that middle space and trying to reach, trying to hear, trying to open to a message, a way forward, a possibility," says artist Okwui Okpokwasili, reflecting on the legacy of colonialism.
Opokwasili’s work is featured in the exhibition Witch Hunt, presented at UCLA’s Hammer Museum and ICA LA, October 10, 2021-January 9, 2022. For the opening of the exhibition, Okpowasili performed in the Hammer’s courtyard and galleries.
