Los Angeles Times arts and urban design columnist Carolina Miranda joins Made in L.A. 2020 artist Reynaldo Rivera in conversation, following a screening of the artist’s film Oblivion Seekers and Las Reinas de la Noche, ca. 1990. Expanding on the subject of many of Rivera’s photographs, the film footage captures in intimate detail the queer, punk culture, along with its subversive fashion and musicians and performers, that thrived in the house parties and Latino bars of 1990s Los Angeles.
