      Professor Zakiyyah Iman Jackson’s latest book, Becoming Human: Matter and Meaning in an Antiblack World, brings together Black literature, art and history to rewrite the pernicious relationship between blackness and animality in Western science and philosophy. In this talk, Jackson focuses on Sylvia Wynter’s philosophy of aesthetics and meditates on its implications for the future of art and literary criticism. The talk is followed by a Q&A with UCLA professor Kenneth Reinhard.
