Writer Colm Tóibín reads from The Master, March 2006
Dublin-based Colm Tóibín is the author of several books, including The South, The Story of the Night, and The Blackwater Lightship. His novel, The Master, takes place in the late 19th century and is based on the Life of writer Henry James. Both active within the Gay Nineties of their respective centuries, Tóibín, like James, employs fiction to narrate personal experiences. The Master was awarded Los Angeles Times Novel of the Year in 2005 and was chosen as one of The New York Times ten best books of 2004. Tóibín is a regular contributor to the London Review of Books.
