Movement artist and scholar Mlondi Zondi joins Made in L.A. 2020 artist Ligia Lewis in conversation, following a screening of Lewis’s dance performance deader than dead (2020). Conceived, choreographed, and directed by Lewis for Made in L.A., deader than dead was originally intended to be a live performance held within the Hammer’s galleries but was postponed due to the pandemic. The film not only documents a performance of the piece, it represents the potential of a live performance to come.
