The Costa Rica–born Mexican singer Chavela Vargas was a pioneer in music and life. Constructed around exclusive interviews and performance footage shot 20 years before her death, this biographical film explores the tequila-drinking, cigar-smoking singer's journey from a 14-year-old runaway to world-renowned Grammy winner.
