"The reader will encounter the sheer joy of a poet gladdened by his own art, alive to the liberties and limits of form and imagination," noted Anthony Hecht in his introduction to Joseph Harrison's first book of poems, Someone Else's Name. The Washington Post named the 2003 collection, published by Waywiser, one of the five best poetry books of the year. Harrison has dazzled readers and garnered critical acclaim ever since. The Baltimore resident is the 2005 recipient of an Academy Award in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. His most recent book is Shakespeare's Horse. This series of readings is organized and hosted by Stephen Yenser, poet and professor at UCLA.
