Made in L.A. 2018: Flora Wiegmann, Reduction Burn

Aug 17, 2018

Flora Wiegmann's Reduction Burn begins as an intact set of movements, which devolve and deteriorate slightly in each of six iterations, representing a different stage of entropy and looping around to eventually begin at a similar position. The altered movement suggests erosion and destructionbrought on by time, natural disaster, or social unrestbut also regeneration. Responding to the recent California fires as well as personal and political challenges, Reduction Burn reminds us that devastation is followed by renewal. Performed by Wiegmann, Rebecca Bruno, Cheryl Banks-Smith, Hyosun Choi, and Devika Wickremesinghe.

In conjunction with the exhibition Made in L.A. 2018.
